Stain Removal Tips

My Mom helped me with my search for stain removal tips and found this great website so I wanted to share. http://www.mrscleannw.com/tips/
Here I learned how to get rid of the iced tea stain that wouldn't come out of the front of Tyler's shirt - I soaked it in vinegar and rubbed salt on it and "whalla" out it came!

Pumpkin Carving Day

Allen and Kaitlyn carved two pumpkins yesterday. I only have pictures of one of the finished pumpkins, I'll post the other one soon! (Yes, Kaitlyn's hair is pink...left over from our neighborhood Halloween party this weekend).

Crayola Funny

Kaitlyn came home with marker all over her shirt today. Apparently someone in her class (she says it was not her) decided to do their art project all over her new shirt. The "washable" markers did not wash out so I googled to see if there were any great tips on getting the stain out. I came across this blog post and had to share....too funny!!!

Washable markers? I think not

Dear Crayola Company,
For the past 7 years, I have purchased your products out of brand loyalty. My mother supplied me with the small 8 count box for school supplies, the 16 count box for a treat. My children, however, have never known your smaller quantities as I spoil them with the 64 or 112 count boxes.

As a loyal customer, I have a complaint. When you invented the so called 'washable' marker, didn't you really mean 'bleedable' markers? Sure, for clothing it's easy to toss a shirt, pair of pants or underwear into the washing machine - but what is your solution for facial and body marking? Did your tester group not immediately take the ruby red marker and apply large, sweeping strokes to their faces and chests?

I'm surprised your company is allowed to market these products for children. Are you not aware that one marker has enough 'washable' ink to cover an entire staircase railing? Or two 7 year old girls? I didn't think so. How many of your employees are parents? Surely they have questioned your mislabeling of all markers. At least Sharpie says PERMANENT without pretense.

You should rename the markers as follows: Stainable, Bleedable, hair dye, furniture paint, and/or cosmetics.

In the future, take all of your possible product lines home with you. Give them to four, no, two children, preferably a boy and a girl. Ages can be from 3-9, your choice. Give the children two hours with your products in your home. Standard behavioral commands can be applied but you must not interfere with the child's choice of application. Wait 24 hours and then observe the results. If you find a girl with red and blue markings all of their body and a boy's artwork covering 3 out of the 4 walls in a room, WELCOME TO CRAYOLA HELL.

I request compensation in the form of $2,000 for painters, three bottles of witch hazel for body stripping, and a two hour massage for me.
Thank you for your prompt response.

Sincerely,
Tish

Halloween Cakes

I bought these cake pans on clearance after Halloween two or three years ago. I never had the time to use them (no surprise there!). I made these cakes for the kids classes yesterday and thought they turned out cute.

Atlanta Zoo trip with our friends Mack & Nathan

On Sunday we met up with our friends Heidi and Karl and their boys Mack & Nathan. The kids had such a great time and it was so nice to be able to catch up with our friends. The kids could just run and play as long as one adult was in pursuit!

Meet our new friend Midas!!

Our friends "Uncle Derek" and "Aunt Carla" brought home their new puppy this week and we were dying to meet him! He is almost 9 weeks old and already weighs 11 pounds. The kids had a blast playing with him....well at least Kaitlyn did - Tyler got scared. It was so much fun!!

Cabin Pictures

After sorting through over 400 pictures from Pumpkin patches, two hiking trips and the cabin here are a few of our favorites. Enjoy!!

Minnow Swimmer!

Kaitlyn successfully completed her Minnow swimming course today!! We are very proud of her and she has really improved over the last few weeks. I wish I had brought my camera today because the teacher took the kids to the deep part of the pool (12 ft) and asked if anyone wanted to jump in off the diving board! Kaitlyn and another little boy (Chase) both did it! Actually, I wouldn't have been able to take a picture because she had me walk out to the end of the diving board with her because she was scared. I thought for sure I would end up in the pool, clothes and all!! After she jumped in and came up for air Miss Becka helped her and then she swam to the side of the pool. Once out she asked if she could jump again....and she did!! Go Girl!!

Happy 4th Birthday Cole! Kaitlyn had a great time celebrating at Jumpits with her friend from school Cole. She was teaching the boys how to slide down the big slide head first on her back!!

Two Kaitlynisms....

We took the kids up to the mountains this weekend and had a wonderful time. We have TONS of pictures to sort through (over 400) so I'll post those later. I wanted to share two funny Kaitlyn stories from this weekend.

We were in the car and had purchased Sweet Tarts for the kids (bribery). Kaitlyn was asking to have a sweet tart all morning. Allen told her at about 10:50 that she could have a sweet tart at 11:00. Kaitlyn's response was "but I don't have a watch! Awwww, MMMMannnn!" (think Swiper the Fox from Dora). We were cracking up - especially due to the fact that she can't tell time anyway!!!

The second story was on Saturday afternoon. We had the TV tuned to the Georgia v. Tennessee game (yes, my team WON - sorry Allen!!) Anyway, the kids had been outside playing and Kaitlyn came in and sat down in front of the TV and said "Mommy, I don't want to watch this, this isn't a girl movie!!"

Kaitlyn and Tyler have a new game - she loves to try and pick up her little brother! So cute!

Cute shot of Tyler and Daddy snuggling on the couch.

We are in so much trouble!

Last night at bedtime Allen and I were in Tyler's room trying to get Kaitlyn to go to her room and finish getting ready for bed. She stood up and in her most authoritative voice looked at Allen and I, pointed her finger and said "From now on, I want you two to just sit here and calm down" and then marched out of the room!! Allen and I were both in tears laughing so hard!! She's not even 4 and already she's running the Crumley household!! HELP!

E-mail from Kaitlyn's Teacher

Yes, I got the dreaded e-mail from Kaitlyn's teacher on Friday - your child has been swearing at school!!!
"Just wanted to mention to you that Kaitlyn had been saying the word dammit in class today. She was eating her lunch and hitting her head saying dammit. (she was using the word in more of a slapstick humor kind of way) Anyway, I told her it wasn't appropriate in school, and she was receptive. Just thought you'd want to know."

Just LOVELY!!!

Murray & Joy's Wedding

Allen and I went to Charlotte, NC this past weekend for Murray's wedding. Allen and Murray are long time High School buddies, so this was like a reunion for him and his friends.

Thanks to Namma and Grandpa and Ms. Cathy for watching the kids! Mommy & Daddy enjoyed being with other "grown-ups!" (I use that term loosely if you knew some of these guys!!)

Kaitlyn was very excited that Grandpa also had matching overalls...so Namma did a mini photo shoot in our front yard!!
